About Nippy Chippy

Proper fish & chips, Stonehouse’s way, for over 22 years.

The Nippy Chippy is a family-run chippy, and it’s been part of Stonehouse for more than 22 years. In that time we’ve fried for first dates, Friday night treats, birthday teas and plenty of “can’t be bothered to cook” evenings. We’ve watched local kids grow up and come back with kids of their own.

We’ve always kept it simple: good fish, proper chips and a friendly face behind the counter. Everything is cooked fresh to order. We’re still the same family running it, still in the heart of the community, and still just as fussy about getting it right.

We’re very proud that this year has brought some recognition for that. In 2026 we were finalists for Best Fish & Chips in the South West, and we were voted Best Takeaway by Stroud News & Journal in 2021. Thank you to everyone who voted for us and to everyone who keeps coming back. It means the world.

Lunchtime Fish n Chips most be the best value lunch going. £5.50 for a good sized piece of fish and plenty of chips. All perfectly cooked.

Great food, great service. We order our food online and is ready to pick up within 20 minutes. Nice selection to choose from. They also do a Gluten Free night ( would need to check online for what night that is on)
